Simple Science

So what you will need:

1 Tablespoon salt

1 Tablespoon sugar

Tape

Glue

4 small pieces of string or yarn

4 ice cubes

and a pre printed or homemade matrix with 5 rows and 3 columns (be sure to talk about matrix and whats in each row and each column and how it's helpful for organizing data)'

I gave each kiddo a plate and 2 ice cubes ... 2 pieces of string ... and they each chose 2 test items...

They made their predictions ...

and we put them to the test ....

Eva had glue and sugar...

Bubs tape and salt...

Salt was our last test and it was so fun watching their faces light up watching it actually hold especially after guessing it wouldn't...

We finished out our experiment by filling out our results...

{Salt was the only item that made the string stick to the ice... This is because the salt makes the ice melt a bit...it then freezes again over the string... making the string stick to the ice and leading to excited kiddos!}

Have fun with this!!
