Butter Makes it Better
So super fun PROJECT to do to talk about liquids and solids....
And end up with a big old hunk of fresh butter for the fam....
We've actually only ever made it since we've done this...
{HA}
So whatcha need....
HEAVY WHIPPING CREAM
adding salt or fresh herbs are a great idea also so season to taste...
have fun...
and enjoy!!!
Please your heavy whipping cream in a blender on medium for what can feel like 30 minutes but it's probably more like 10-12...
You'll watch the cream transform from liquid... to a thicker cream.... to a whipped cream texture (at which point you would want to add in any of your optional mix ins) ...
All of a sudden it'll just SPLIT...
you'll have a soft butter ...
and the extra liquid will be the butter cream...
[store that and use within a couple days for a recipe of your choice... don't just dump it ...like I did the first time)
scoop the butter out...
we use our hands...
and I'm sure there's something official to use for this but we plop it on to paper towels ....
you want to squeeze as much liquid out as you can ...
you'll release probably way more than you're thinking ...
I thank plop it onto plastic wrap or baking paper ....
You can shape it however your little heart desires...
So that's the butter part...
The learning ...
[well besides that sweet lesson)
We read "The Hungry Frog" that's about that gets stuck in a cream bucket....
He kicks and kicks and it seems like he'll never make it out...
He feels like giving up but he doesn't...
The cream eventually is churned up enough by his relentless fight to free himself that it turns in to a solid butter than he could than just jump off of and escape...
So we read the book...
Made the butter...
Ate the butter ...
Liquid gone solid in a win win kinda way...
